A young man suffered a brutal shark attack on one of his legs while he was on the beaches of Puerto Castillas .
The victim was identified as Fernando Alfonso Mendoza . According to witnesses, the young man was collecting seashells on the beach when the shark attacked him.
The animal's bite caused a large wound on one of his legs, so people who were in the area helped him.
Fernando was transferred to the Salvador Paredes Hospital in Trujillo, where he is receiving medical attention.
