An extended underwater excursion to Vaavu Atoll in the Maldives was interrupted by an aggressive nurse shark. Several predators circled the divers for about 40 minutes until one of them attacked 30-year-old nurse Carmen.

The "guard" bit the woman in the shoulder area, but immediately released the victim and disappeared. The tourist, after visiting the ship, continued swimming with sharks.
