South Africa: A suspected cash-in-transit robbery ended in tragedy today when one of the alleged robbers, apparently abandoned by his accomplices, died in a grisly apparent self inflicted gun wound following a shootout with the security services officials.
According to reports, a group of suspects attempted to rob a cash-in-transit vehicle. The heist was interrupted by the officials, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire.
During the confrontation, the suspect was shot in the leg, immobilizing him. As police gained control of the scene, his accomplices reportedly fled, leaving him behind.
Cornered and wounded, the man then turned his weapon on himself. It is report that the man fired multiple shots at his own head, missing several times before a final, fatal bullet struck him.
