A man identified as "Galego do Polivalente" was the target of a "criminal tribunal" after being accused of robberies in the city.
A video circulated shows a man being brutally beaten by drug traffickers from the Bonde do Maluco (BDM) criminal gang in the Alto do São Francisco neighborhood of Santo Amaro. The victim was identified as "Galego do Polivalente," identified as the perpetrator of several robberies in the city.
According to local reports, Galego is believed to be a drug user and has a criminal record. In one of the previous incidents, he was detained by the public at the municipal market, where he was tied up until authorities arrived after being caught committing the robbery.
The video of the beating was recorded by the gang members themselves, who imposed the so-called "criminal tribunal," a common practice among criminal organizations that mete out violent punishments to individuals deemed to have violated internal rules or committed crimes without the group's authorization. The Civil Police must investigate the veracity of the images and the circumstances of the beating.
