Fort Worth, Texas — On Thursday, July 11, 2024, FLOCK cameras alerted Fort Worth officers of a stolen maroon truck being driven in the area of Ephriham and Azle Avenue. When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver fled, driving recklessly and ramming a police unit, according to the Fort Worth Police Department. The chase ended in a parking lot near the intersection of NW 28th Street and McKinley Avenue after police deployed spike strips to stop the suspect. Video footage shows the driver exiting the stolen GMC Sierra armed with a long gun. The suspect then carjacked an innocent bystander and took control of their vehicle. The situation escalated when the suspect exited the white vehicle, appearing to hold a firearm to his head and refusing to put the gun down. In response, five Fort Worth police officers opened fire, striking the suspect multiple times. No officers or innocent bystanders were injured during the incident. The suspect was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition. Jail records have identified him as 28-year-old Jaquin Guzman, although police are still working to confirm his identity. Guzman faces multiple charges, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated robbery, and evading arrest.
