Valverde, Dominican Republic – On Wednesday morning, authorities found the body of a man in an irrigation canal in the community of Barrero, a peripheral area near the hydroelectric plant in the province of Valverde.
According to initial reports received at the scene, the body was tied with wire (tairráp), which caused concern among neighbors and onlookers who gathered around the canal. Initial reports indicate that the victim was identified as Modesto Marmolejos del Rosario, 52, known as "Kiko," who was apparently originally from the Cienfuegos area of Santiago de los Caballeros.
Members of the Dominican National Police and Army quickly arrived at the scene, while awaiting the arrival of the forensic doctor and the Public Prosecutor's Office to carry out the removal of the body and the relevant investigations.
