Police Shoot and Kill Sexual Assault Suspect Near Disneyland

On October 3, 2023, at about 1 p.m., Anaheim Police Officers attempted to arrest a felony sexual assault suspect, 29-year-old Luis Munoz of Anaheim, on the 300 block of West Orangewood Avenue, Munoz ran from Officers, causing Officers to pursue him to the area of Harbor Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue. Officers and Munoz ran to a gas station where officers would confront Munoz to drop the knife. Munoz raised the knife and walked towards an Anaheim PD Officer causing an officer-involved shooting. Munoz was struck at least once by police gunfire. Munoz was treated at the scene by Anaheim Police Officers and personnel from Anaheim Fire and Rescue. Despite their efforts, Munoz was pronounced deceased at the scene. A large knife, believed to belong to Munoz, was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured as a result of the shooting.
