On the evening of April 27, 2023, 66-year-old Jeffrey Roberts from Long Beach, California, drove to his brothers house in North Ogden, Utah, parking his van in the driveway. At approximately 7:11 p.m., he approached the front door and rang the doorbell. The occupants of the home, Scott Roberts and his wife, were eating dinner alone when Jeffrey Roberts arrived. When Scott Roberts answered, Jeffrey Roberts and Scott Roberts both started having a conversation. When the conversation ended, Jeffrey Roberts pulled out his 9mm pistol and shot Scott Roberts and then shot his Scott’s wife. Neighbors heard gunshots and called 911. The total time from this incident spans over 13 minutes. During these times Jeffrey Roberts grabbed his 12-gauge shotgun and brought it into the house and shot again. Jeffrey Roberts then lit the house on fire with road flares. He then made a call to somebody and soon after police arrived, Jeffrey Roberts opened fire on them with his 9mm handgun. Three officers returned fire, fatally wounding Jeffrey Roberts. Jeffrey Roberts was in possession 23 magazines for his 9mm pistol. He also had 150 shotgun shells in his possession for his 12-gauge shotgun.
